PORTUGUESE CLASSES FOR EXPATRIATES

By the addition of language classes to our full-service approach, we have committed to creating an innovative method, unique among others, based on our experience of newcomers struggling to build a life in Brazil. Our language instruction is in rhythm with the adapting process and is handled through three different approaches (materials and methodology) depending on our expats' native languages, culture and personality type. For example, we address Asians with a material and methodology different from those of Anglo-Saxon or Latin language speakers.

Language is the most daunting cultural barrier expats face, and we believe our method provides the tools to overcome this obstacle and make our clients feel comfortable. Part of this is respecting the expats' needs to protect their independence and to solve their own problems. Expats' needs differ according to the circumstances which is the reason why we teach using relevant situation classes - For example, there is a time when the expatriates want to handle their own shopping without depending on translators. The instructor can create a situation-based class and conduct it in culture and off-site.

Our method is dynamic, intriguing, fun and focused on the day-to-day; the expats' priorities are regarded with attention to meet their most challenging needs. The instructors can adapt their approach to each individual's unique learning style by adjusting to their personality type. Each personality type plays a great role in how the language is aquired and how expats view and process information. Some personalities are rational and analytical, others emotional and intuitive, some are systematic, with linear thinking, while others still are curious, multi-phase and may be de-motivated with routine. Therefore personality types, cultural and behavioral aspects and language families are all combined in this interesting and unique acquisition of a foreign language.
